Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine and #MUSOM2026 will celebrate #Match2026 as part of the National Residency Matching Program on Friday, March 20, 2026, at the DoubleTree Hilton - Huntington.

Seating is limited. Tickets are required for this event. Doors will open for family and friends seating at 10:30 a.m. The ceremony will begin at approximately 11:15 a.m. and is available for live viewing at www.marshall.edu/livestream or www.facebook.com/MUSOMWV. All students will open their envelopes at the same time and experience the excitement together.

Come spend an evening with us as we celebrate the 40th Annual Student Juried Exhibition, juried by Huntington Museum of Art curator, John Farley. This show highlights the work of School of Art & Design students chosen from a wide range of entries.

The exhibition is on view in the Birke Art Gallery March 2 – March 26, 2026. The closing reception will be held on March 26 from 6 PM to 8 PM.

Juror Spotlight: This year’s juror is John Farley! After earning his BFA at Marshall University, Farley returned as an adjunct professor and later served as Gallery Director. Featuring: Bryce Speed — painter

Event Description

This artist talk will reflect on Speed's artistic practice and the path he took to develop his current body of work, which studies the everyday rhythms of home life and the line between private and public spaces through arduously hand-cutting stencils. His current solo exhibition, Memory Fails Me, is on view in the Charles W. and Norma C. Carroll Gallery February 19 to March 26. The artist talk will end in a Q&A session.

Artist Bio

Bryce Speed has taught Painting at the University of Nebraska at Omaha and is currently Associate Professor of Art in Painting at the University of Alabama.

Bryce’s work has been included in numerous exhibitions over the past several years. In 2006 and 2011 his work was selected for publication in New American Paintings Southeastern and Western editions. In 2014, he was part of a three-person exhibition at HERE Art Center in New York, NY, titled Suburbia: Is Anyone There? In 2015-16 he exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy Open Exhibition in Edinburgh, Scotland and at the Visual Art Exchange’s Contemporary South Exhibition in Raleigh, NC. In 2022, his work was curated into the exhibition A Plot, Hatched by Two at the Warbling Collective in London. His solo exhibition Multi-Family Home was held at the Brownsville Museum of Art and another solo exhibition titled Schoolhouse at the ADA Gallery in Richmond, VA in 2024.

Amicus Curiae Lecture on Constitutional Democracy

Sarah M.S. Pearsall is Professor of History at Johns Hopkins University; she previously taught at Cambridge University. She is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society and Distinguished Fellow in the American Revolution at the British Library. She holds degrees from Yale, Cambridge, and Harvard. Her first book, Atlantic Families: Lives and Letters in the Later Eighteenth Century (Oxford University Press, 2008), received the Women’s History Network Prize. Her second book, Polygamy: An Early American History (Yale University Press, 2019), and a related article in the American Historical Review, received commendations and awards from the Organization for American Historians and the Western History Association. Her third book, Polygamy: A Very Short Introduction, came out with the Oxford University Press series in 2022. Her fourth book, Freedom Round the Globe: A World History of the American Revolution, will be released in May 2026 by Knopf Doubleday (U.S.), Picador (U.K.), and Rowohlt Berlin (Germany). Her scholarship has been supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities and the British Academy, among others.

The 2nd Annual WV Wellness & Longevity Conference will be held Thursday, April 30, 2026, at the St. Mary’s Conference Center in Huntington, West Virginia.

This year’s annual meeting will provide attendees with strategies, connections, and resources to advance well-being for themselves, their workplace and communities, and the individuals they serve.

Nearly 200 participants will gather for a day that includes national speakers, subject matter experts on each of the dimensions of wellness and breakouts throughout the day. Participants will discover innovative well-being approaches as they create their own wellness plan through the day.

Join the Marshall University School of Art & Design for its annual Empty Bowls event benefitting Facing Hunger Food Bank.

The sale will take place at Pullman Square in Huntington, WV on Friday, May 1 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Empty Bowls is a worldwide grassroots movement where ceramic artists create handcrafted bowls to raise funds to fight hunger. For more than two decades, Marshall art students, faculty, and area potters have crafted one of a kind bowls to support Facing Hunger's mission.

Each bowl is $20, and every bowl purchased helps provide 180 meals to neighbors across 17 counties in the Tri-State.

Community members are invited to make a meaningful impact in the fight against hunger while adding a handmade bowl (or two) to their home.

Please join us for the Pacemakers 5K Run/Walk on Sunday, May 17, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Community Park in Barboursville, WV 🏃‍♀️💚

This year’s race is a collaboration between The Pacemakers and the Men’s Health Organization at the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine. Together, these student-led groups are working to promote a healthy, active medical student community.

Proceeds from the race will support medical student health, physical activity and well-being by helping subsidize race entry fees like the Marshall Marathon and by funding Pacemakers-led activities that encourage students to stay active throughout the year.
