About this Event
When the Russian invasion began in 2022, four Marshall University professors launched MUkraine, an entity with the mission to tell the stories of Ukrainians caught up in the devastation of war. Ukrainian born, Dr. Victor Fet, Dr. Kateryna Schray (of Ukrainian origin), Dr. Anara Tabyshalieva, and Larry Sheret have produced over 150 video-podcasts. Their interviews feature refugees, frontline workers, journalists, and families directly impacted by the war.
A local documentary group headed by award winning director Samuel Felinton, founder of Felinton Inc. Entertainment, have captured the best of these pod-casts. Felinton attends WVU, but several Marshall students assisted in the production of the film. The film brings the heart wrenching realities of the war to light and gives voice to the Ukrainian people affected.
The film will premiere on Saturday, February 22 at 7:00 p.m. at the Joan C. Edwards Playhouse on 5th Ave., Huntington, WV. It will be reshown on Monday, February 24 at 7:00 p.m. at Marshall’s Drinko Library when Marshall’s President Brad Smith will be in attendance. Both screenings are free to all. Brief receptions will follow the viewings.
