Darkness Shall Cover Me by Katherine Akey Closing Reception
Marshall University’s School of Art & Design proudly presents Darkness Shall Cover Me, a solo exhibition by San Francisco-based artist Katherine Akey. The exhibition explores the human dimensions of strategic bombing in World War I through cyanotype, quilted fiber works, and paper sculptures informed by archaeological methods. Drawing from archival materials and personal reflections, Akey examines how memory and material intersect. With historically resonant media and a subdued palette, the exhibition invites reflection on the lived experiences of early bomber pilots and the lasting impact of aerial warfare.
