Marshall University School of Art & Design proudly presents the Spring 2026 Capstone Exhibition Season, a series of exhibitions showcasing the culmination of skills and ideas gathered by two groups of graduating students in the School of Art & Design.

The first exhibition, Holocene, features artists Ben Ardman, Jenna Nichols, Abby Thompson, Nathaniel Thompson, and Audrey Vance and their work in animation, sculpture, stop motion, and apparel. Each distinct body of work highlights the artists’ perspectives and demonstrates their individual styles of storytelling, whether they are reimagining ancient stories through apparel or telling newer stories by unveiling a West Virginia-focused snow sports brand.

Holocene will be on view April 13 - 16, 2026 with a reception and gallery talk on Monday, April 13 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Charles W. & Norma C. Caroll Gallery and the Pneumatic Gallery, located on the first floor of the Visual Arts Center at 927 Third Ave., Huntington, WV.

Students spend a year planning, developing, and installing the artwork while preparing the receptions and gallery talks. Senior Capstone Exhibitions celebrate the end of their students in the School of Art & Design and act as their first professional exhibition.

Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Admission to the gallery and all events are free and open to the public.
