Reception: For Those of Us Still Living

Marshall University’s School of Art & Design announces the exhibition, For Those of Us Still Living, featuring the artworks of artist Jim Arendt. This exhibition explores the intersections of labor, industry, and human narratives. Through intricate techniques and meticulous craftsmanship, Arendt breathes new life into discarded denim, creating narrative portraits viewers can identify with. 

The exhibition will be held at the Charles W. & Norma C. Carroll Gallery located in the Visual Arts Center at 927 3rdAvenue, Huntington, WV. Opening on August 14, 2023 For Those of Us Still Living will be available to view through September 7, 2023.

In conjunction with the exhibition, the School of Art & Design Galleries will host special events, including a joint reception with Ron Lambert’s “Divide and Follow” on Thursday, August 24 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and a closing artist talk with Jim Arendt on Thursday, September 7 beginning at 4:00 p.m. All events are free and open to the public.
