The Marshall University School of Music presents MU String Day Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2025, in Smith Music Hall. The event is free and open to all youth strings players ages 10-17.

Marshall University string faculty Dr. Şölen Dikener (cello), Dr. Júlio Ribeiro Alves (guitar) and Dr. Alex Malaimare (violin) and teaching assistant Reece Taylor (guitar) will present the second annual Marshall String Day! The event is open to violinists, violists, cellists, double bassists and guitar players ages 10 to 17 in the Tri-State area to join for improving their playing techniques and live ensemble performance experience, sitting along with Marshall University School of Music students.

The schedule is as follows:

Registration: 8.30 - 9:00 a.m.

Rehearsals and master classes: 9:00 - 11:30 a.m.

Lunch break: 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Concert: 1:00 - 2:00 p.m.
